Jetstar will operate the service three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing Busselton at 1:55pm (WST) and landing at Sydney Airport at 9:00pm (EST).
Tickets are on sale now, with Jetstar launching flights with a 12-hour sale, with one-way fares from Busselton to Sydney from only $109^
Operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft, the first flight will take off on 26 March 2024, just days before Easter and the second anniversary of Jetstar's inaugural flight from Melbourne to Busselton Margaret River in April 2022.
The Sydney service will operate in addition to the Melbourne service.
Flights direct from the East Coast were made possible by over a decade of collaborative work and a vision shared by the City of Busselton, Federal and State Governments for the airport to be a key driver of sustained and diversified growth for the South West and the whole of Western Australia.
City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin said the news couldn't have come at a more opportune time.
"We are currently working with the State Government to develop a business case to fund necessary infrastructure upgrades to ensure the airport can keep up with strong demand from domestic travellers wanting to experience our world-class wineries, attractions, stunning coastline and laid-back hospitality."
"Securing a second East Coast service to Busselton is a great achievement, and City of Busselton Officers and Tourism WA have done a superb job securing this new service. It makes travel between Australia's west and east coast easier than ever for City residents, domestic and international tourists." City of Busselton CEO, Tony Nottle
"The announcement of this route is significant; it allows travellers from Sydney and New South Wales to fly directly into the region, giving them more time to experience the incredible tourism offerings and engage with our local community." Australia's South West CEO, Catrin Allsop
“The introduction of a Sydney service has been hotly anticipated by the tourism industry. It is tremendous to see this achieved within 19 months of the Melbourne route commencing, and we are looking forward to welcoming Sydney-siders to share in our world-class wine and food offering, stunning natural environment and beautiful coastline.” Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association CEO, Sharna Kearney
